Dementia Australia Backs Mt. Isa, Cloncurry

Are you concerned about your memory or worried that someone you know may have dementia? Dementia Australia is offering support in Mt. Isa and Cloncurry in Queensland between 2-4 June, 2026. It is estimated there are 88,200 people living with dementia in Queensland. Without a medical breakthrough this number is expected to increase to more than 168,000 people living with dementia by 2054. 

The Dementia Australia sessions are an opportunity for people living with dementia, their carers, family, and friends to attend free education to better understand dementia and to discuss the support and services Dementia Australia can provide.

Carer Wellness Program This session focuses on the health and wellbeing of those involved in caring for a person living with dementia, whether they live with you or elsewhere. Carers may include partners, family members and friends. Tuesday 2 June, 2026, 9:30am-2:30pm AEST, Mt Isa

Memory & Ageing Session This session provides information on memory and common changes that may occur with ageing. It provides strategies for improving memory, when to seek help about your concerns, and services provided by Dementia Australia. Tuesday 2 June, 2026, 1pm-2:30pm AEST, Cloncurry

EDIE for Family Carers This session enhances knowledge of dementia through virtual reality technology that allows participants to see the world through the eyes of a person living with dementia. Tuesday 2 June, 2026, 10am-2pm AEST, Cloncurry

Yarning about Dementia In collaboration with Campfire Healing Indigenous Corporation, Dementia Australia would like to invite members of the community to join us for a yarn about dementia. We'll talk about what dementia is, some of the common risk factors, ways to lower your risk, the different supports available, and how to support someone who may have a diagnosis of dementia. This session is suitable for anyone impacted by dementia.
