Deprivation Of Liberty Appeal For Witnesses At Hamilton

Detectives from Bayside Criminal Investigation Branch are appealing for information as part investigations into an alleged deprivation of liberty offence in Brisbane's north on Wednesday, 17 December.

It will be alleged around 12.20pm, a woman entered a ride share vehicle at Kingsford Smith Drive, Hamilton, and threatened the driver whilst armed with a knife.

It will be alleged the woman then made demands to be driven to Masters Avenue, Victoria Point, where she exited the vehicle and travelled via ferry to Coochiemudlo Island.

No one was injured during the incident.

Following investigations, the woman was taken into police custody on Coochiemudlo Island around 6.15pm.

A 33-year-old Birtinya woman has been charged with two counts of obstruct police officer and one count each of unlawful entry of a vehicle, threats and deprivation of liberty.

She appeared in Cleveland Magistrates Court on 18 December and was remanded in custody, with her next court appearance expected to be on 19 February, 2026.

As part of these ongoing investigations, police are appealing for witnesses, including anyone with dashcam vision around the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Kingsford Smith Drive and Crescent Road, Hamilton.
