Deprivation of liberty at Wamuran, QLD

Police have charged a 43-year-old man with a number of offences following investigations into an incident at Wamuran on November 24, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged that around 5pm, a man entered a woman’s vehicle, assaulted her and pushed her into the front passenger seat before driving the vehicle to a dirt track off the Daguilar Highway.

It is further alleged the man threatened the woman and continued to assault her before being interrupted by a passing motorist – a man in a red vehicle – who stopped to make sure everything was okay.

The man is alleged to have threatened the motorist before getting back into the vehicle with the woman and driving away.

The incident was reported to Caboolture Police later that evening, and a 43-year-old man was arrested a short time later.

The man and woman are known to one another.

A 43-year-old Upper Caboolture man has been charged with one count each of deprivation of liberty, torture, assault occasioning bodily harm, threatening violence, authority required to possess explosives, unlawful entry of vehicle for committing indictable offence, and contravention of a DV order; and two counts of unlawful possession of weapons (category H and R).

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court tomorrow, November 27.

Police are appealing to the passing motorist or anyone else who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
