Deputy Commissioner Harsley APM to Retire

Deputy Commissioner Cameron Harsley APM has advised the Commissioner of Police of his intention to begin transitioning into retirement in September. His final day with the Queensland Police Service (QPS) will be Friday, 12 September, marking the close of a remarkable career spanning more than 35 years.

Throughout his distinguished service to the Queensland community, Deputy Commissioner Harsley has held a number of key leadership roles. These include positions within the Child Protection Investigation Unit, the Crime and Corruption Police Group at the Crime and Corruption Commission, and as Director of the Child Safety and Sexual Crime Group within the Crime and Intelligence Command. He also served as District Officer for the North Brisbane District.

Before stepping into his current role as Deputy Commissioner of Regional Services two years ago, he served as Assistant Commissioner for the Brisbane Region.

Reflecting on his career, Deputy Commissioner Harsley said:

"The privilege of my career was working with child victims and their families through the most traumatic times, and witnessing the courage displayed by the victims and their families."

As he looks ahead, Deputy Commissioner Harsley is eager to explore new opportunities and spend more time with his family.
