Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman spoke today with Swiss State Secretary Livia Leu to discuss Russia's premeditated, unprovoked, and unjustified attack on Ukraine. The two strongly condemned Russia's further invasion into Ukraine as a flagrant violation of international law and contravention of OSCE principles and commitments. They reaffirmed their strong support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and pledged continued coordination to hold Russia accountable. They called on Russia to immediately cease its military invasion and withdraw its forces from Ukraine and urged Russia to pursue diplomacy to avert further escalation.
