Detectives arrest trio after series of drive-by shootings in Wodonga

Wodonga Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested three people today following a series of drive-by shootings in Wodonga over the weekend.

As part of their investigations, detectives and the Special Operations Group arrested two women, aged 43 and 29, about 10.30am.

Their arrests, in Woodland Street and at a cabin at a caravan park in Melbourne Road respectively, follow reports of alleged drive-by shootings on Saturday night at homes in Wornes Drive, Gilbert Street and Georgina Street.

Detectives are also investigating whether a report of what appears to be a possible fourth shooting incident in Quirk Court in West Wodonga is also linked.

A 29-year-old man was also arrested in relation to the investigation, at the Hume Freeway border checkpoint around midday.

It is expected the Wodonga man will be extradited to Wodonga Magistrates' Court, charged with four counts of reckless conduct endangering life and four counts of discharge a firearm.

The women have been charged with four counts each of reckless conduct endangering life.

The 43-year-old woman is expected to face an out of sessions hearing at Wodonga Magistrates' Court this evening.

The 29-year-old will be held over to appear at Wodonga Magistrates' Court tomorrow morning.

Investigations are ongoing with anyone with information urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
