Armed Crime Squad detectives continue to investigate a shooting in Narre Warren South yesterday morning.
Investigators have been told a man was shot in the upper body while seated in a car on Shrives Road about 5am.
The man was transported to hospital where he underwent surgery and remains in a critical condition.
Detectives are still working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting, including what the motivation may have been.
Investigators believe there were several vehicles driving along the street around the time of the incident and wish to speak with anyone in the area at this time.
