Homicide Squad detectives are investigating following the death of a man in South Yarra last night (26 April).
Initial reports that the man had sustained stab wounds were incorrect and police now know that the man was shot.
It is believed the 41-year-old Carnegie man was shot in Fawkner Park about 7.40pm.
The area remains a crime scene and police are appealing for members of the public to avoid the area until further notice.
