Detectives investigate Pakenham aggravated carjacking

Detectives from the Southern Metro Crime Team are investigating following an aggravated carjacking in Pakenham yesterday afternoon (4 August), Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told the victim, a 29-year-old Scoresby man, had pulled into Savage Street and parked to look at his GPS about 2.40pm.

While parked in the street, he was approached by a group of young men who made demands he get out of his car and hand over his keys, wallet and phone.

One of the youths produced a firearm and the victim complied.

It is believed one offender then fled in the vehicle and the others fled on foot after taking cash and the phone.

The victim was not injured as a result of the incident.

The car, being a gold coloured Holden Commodore, was located a short time later by police on patrol abandoned in Gallery Way.

The youths were all perceived to be African in appearance.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the group of males, particularly in the areas surrounding Savage Street and Hayes Court, to contact Crime Stoppers.

It is also believed that a woman in a blue coloured Club Sport witnessed the incident and detectives are appealing for her to contact Crime Stoppers.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
