Detectives Investigate Williamstown Stabbing

Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following a stabbing in Williamstown earlier this year.

Police have been told a man was walking along Aitken Street when he was approached by an unknown male on a bicycle just after 7pm on 18 June.

The offender struck the victim to the back of the head before producing a knife and stabbing him twice, which required surgery.

The victim, a 23-year-old Williamstown man, was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The offender fled on a light-coloured bicycle, east through a residential carpark.

He was last seen wearing a black hooded jumper, black pants and runners.

Investigators have released images and CCTV of a man they believe can assist with their enquiries, in the hope someone may recognise him.

Anyone with information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
