Detectives Probe Harkaway Burglary, Olympic Memorabilia Theft

Casey Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the theft of sentimental Olympic memorabilia and other items that were stolen during a burglary in Harkaway last month.

It is understood unknown offender/s attended a large property on King Road sometime between 3.30pm on 11 February and 4.45pm on 18 February.

The 62-year-old resident has been left heartbroken after their cherished Sydney 2000 Olympic runners torch and boxed uniform was stolen.

The victim was selected to carry the Olympic torch in 2000 because their son represented Australia in snowboarding.

Police were told the offenders stole various other items including:

  • a white 2018 Toyota CHR wagon (Vic number plate ASN155)
  • snowboarding items and memorabilia
  • clothing
  • computer items
  • handbags
  • jewellery valued at $5000
  • over 100 vintage vinyl records
  • tools
