Police have released CCTV footage of a vehicle of interest in the investigation into the kidnapping of a man from Sydney's northern suburbs last year.

About 12.40pm on Saturday 24 October 2020, officers from Ryde Police Area Command attended a unit block on Morrison Road, Ryde, following reports a man had been violently abducted from the underground carpark.

A crime scene was established and following initial inquiries, the matter was referred to detectives from the State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, who commenced an investigation under Strike Force Nicotiana.

On Tuesday 27 October 2020, officers from Bankstown Police Area Command responded to reports an injured man had been found near the intersection of Henry Lawson Drive and Maclaurin Avenue, East Hills.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended before he was taken to Bankstown Hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

The man was identified as the then 20-year-old, who was abducted three days prior.

As inquiries continue, strike force detectives have released CCTV footage of a 2016 white HiAce van that entered the underground carpark just prior to the man being violently abducted.

At the time the vision was captured, stolen number plates were fixed to the van and the front windscreen had distinctive markings.

Anyone with information about the van or this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
