Detectives from Surry Hills Police Area Command are seeking public assistance after a sexual touching incident that occurred during New Year's Eve celebrations at a nightclub on Oxford Street, Darlinghurst, in the early hours of Thursday, 1 January 2026.
Police were told, about 1.30am, a woman was sexually touched by an unknown man inside a nightclub on Oxford Street, Darlinghurst, before he left the scene.
As investigations continue, detectives have released CCTV footage of a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
The man is described as being of Indian/Sub Continental appearance, about 170cm to 180cm tall, with a medium build, short black hair and black facial hair.
He is depicted wearing a navy polo shirt, black pants, and red sneakers.
The man was last seen on the corner of Oxford Street and Wentworth Avenue around 2am.
Police are urging anyone who knows the man or has information that may assist investigators to contact Surry Hills Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
