Detox Your Home Is On Again In Wonthaggi

Registrations are now open for this year's Detox Your Home event! Held on Saturday, 7 June at Wonthaggi Transfer Station from 9:00am to 1:00pm, this event is an opportunity to dispose of any household chemicals and pesticides that aren't usually accepted at transfer stations or in any of your kerbside bins - and it's free of charge.

Bass Coast Shire Council is proud to again be partnering with Sustainability Victoria to hold this event for our community.

Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Rochelle Halstead, explained the importance of the event.

"We have such a beautiful environment here in Bass Coast and this is just another way we're looking after it. By providing this event we see responsible disposal of old household cleaners and pesticides that people no longer want or need," Cr Halstead explained.

"Pouring household chemicals down the drain can pollute our waterways, harm animals and vegetation, contaminate our water supply and make rivers and beaches unsafe for swimming. Safe disposal of household chemicals avoids harm to you, your family, pets and the environment.

"In the past this event has been extremely popular with all the time slots filling up quickly. This is a testament to how much our community cares for the environment and really want to do the right thing.

"I encourage you to have a look in your cupboards, garage and shed to see if there's anything you might want to get rid of and book your place to dispose of it at the Detox Your Home event." Cr Halstead said.

Toxic household chemicals, such as cleaning products, pool chemicals, pesticides and herbicides can be disposed of during the event. For a full list of what is accepted visit
