Detox your home of household chemicals

Sustainability Victoria’s Detox your Home program has started up again for the year and will be open and accepting your household chemicals on Saturday 27 March at the Parkdale Family and Children’s Centre -116 Warren Road, Parkdale.

The Detox your Home program is a safe, free service for householders to dispose of unwanted toxic chemicals.

Detox your Home events are set up to collect toxic household chemicals, such as cleaning products, pool chemicals, pesticides and weed killer, in order to safely dispose of them for free. Collected items are recovered for reuse or safely disposed.

Attendees must register prior to attending.

With your safety in mind, Detox your Home events are now drive-through and contactless, supported by a COVIDsafe plan.

Before attending a Detox Your Home event it is important to check which toxic household chemicals are accepted. For a full list, click here.

Why recycle household chemicals?

Household chemicals can be dangerous – they can harm your family and your pets, add extra fuel in the event of a house fire, release toxic fumes and pollute the environment for future generations.

The program recovers and diverts toxic chemicals from landfill.

Safely dispose of your toxic household wastes to:

  • keep them out of our waterways
  • reduce the risk of poisoning and keep our homes safe
  • minimise environmental pollution and bushfire hazards.

When: Saturday 27 March 2021 9:00AM-3:00PM

Where: Parkdale Family & Children’s Centre Carpark
