Devonport Jobs Fair to help Tasmanians get in a job

The Morrison Government's Devonport Jobs Fair on Thursday 15 April will bring together job seekers and local businesses from across North-Western Tasmania.

Minister for Employment, Workforce, Skills, Small and Family Business, the Hon Stuart Robert MP, said the jobs fair at Providore Place will promote a wide range of employment opportunities.

'We are committed to connecting job seekers with businesses looking to hire, because getting Tasmanians back into work is at the heart of our Economic Recovery Plan.' Mr Robert said.

'The local knowledge and collaboration fostered between businesses and job seekers through this Jobs Fair will be vital, along with the on-the-ground support to help lead our recovery.'

Assistant Minister for Youth and Employment Services, the Hon Luke Howarth MP, said the Devonport Jobs Fair is a must for those who want to connect with businesses hiring across a wide range of industries.

'The event will feature workshops from business and industry professionals to help people get job-ready and secure their next role, as well as presentations and assistance with résumés and interviews.

'Local businesses who understand the employment requirements of the region will be key to getting people back into work, with on-the-ground support from the Morrison Government.'

Senator for Tasmania, the Hon Richard Colbeck, said the state will play an important role in the economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

'The Morrison Government is investing in apprenticeships in the region, creating jobs and boosting the skills of Australians to help them get back into work,' Senator Colbeck said.

Member for Braddon, Mr Gavin Pearce MP, said the North-West, West Coast and King Island is on the rebound, with our business confidence the highest in the nation.

'Everywhere I go, businesses are upbeat about their future, so this event could not have come at a better time,' he said.

'It will showcase the many opportunities jobseekers have to upskill and reskill to make the most of the opportunities ahead.'

More than 46,000 people have attended the Morrison Government's Jobs Fairs since July 2018, with more than 1600 of those in Tasmania.

The Devonport Jobs Fair is a free event from 9am, with three sessions throughout the day until 4pm to ensure COVID-19 safety guidelines are met.
