Diamonds tickets flying out door

Nic Street, Minister for Stadia and Events

The Rockliff Liberal Government was pleased last week to announce the World Cup-winning Australian Diamonds would play two matches against South Africa at MyState Bank Arena in October.

Since then - tickets have been frantically snapped up by passionate sports fans.

As of this morning, nearly 85 per cent of the tickets across the two games have been sold.

Minister for Stadia and Events, Nic Street, said Tasmanian fans shouldn't leave it too late to get their tickets.

"Since the tickets went on sale on Saturday, they have been flying out the door," he said.

"The pre-sale period for the Tasmanian netball community ensured that they had priority access to tickets, and I'm thrilled so many took advantage of it."

Of the more than 8,250 tickets available for the two matches, only 1,320 remain as of this morning.

"Ticket prices start at $30 for children and $55 for adults, and I urge all Tasmanians to not delay in snapping up the last remaining few," Minister Street said.

The Rockliff Liberal Government is partnering with Netball Australia and investing $500,000 to support these two games in Tasmania. Beyond the matches, the partnership will also deliver community outreach program in the north and south of the State.

"It's a fantastic opportunity for young Tasmanians at both ends of the State to meet and learn from the Diamonds players fresh from their World Cup win," Minister Street said.

"There has never been a more thrilling time for elite women's sport in Australia and we are pleased to be able to bring the excitement to Tasmania."

The two matches against South Africa are on 29 and 31 October, and tickets are available from ticketek.com.au.
