Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating following a theft and subsequent deceptions in Dingley Village earlier this month.
Investigators have been told an unknown male offender stole credit cards from a vehicle parked in a sports club car park on the morning of 1 August.
Later that morning the cards were used at four retail stores in Cheltenham.
Detectives have released an image of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
