Western Downs residents can receive alerts to their device for critical information during the event of an emergency.
Subscribing for alerts through Council's Disaster Dashboard provides real-time updates and essential resources to help the community stay informed and safe.
Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Andrew Smith said the disaster dashboard is the single source of truth on road conditions and closures, weather warnings, bushfires, river height, flood data and fire danger ratings.
"Community members can now subscribe to receive real-time updates straight to their phone via SMS or email. Subscribers can choose to receive river level notifications, or Emergency News bulletins," Mayor Smith said.
"Council understands the importance of early community notification which enables increased preparedness within our communities.
"In times of crisis, timely and accurate information can save lives," he said.
Mayor Smith said the Disaster Dashboard is our trusted source where people can find everything they need to make informed decisions and stay safe.
"Whether it's a bushfire, flood, or severe storm, this platform ensures our community has access to the latest updates from verified sources, all in one place," he said.
"Extreme weather events will continue to impact the Western Downs region, and that's why tools like the Disaster Dashboard are essential.
"Having access to up to date and accurate information empowers communities and decision-makers with real-time data and insights to plan ahead, respond faster, and mitigate risks before disaster strikes.
"The Disaster Dashboard is accessible via the Western Downs Regional Council website and is mobile-friendly, making it easy to use on the go," he said.
Council encourages all residents to familiarise themselves with the Disaster Dashboard and bookmark it for quick access during emergency events.
