Disqualified driver charged after pursuit in stolen car at Liverpool

A man will appear in court charged with multiple offences after attempting to evade police in an allegedly stolen car near Liverpool yesterday.

About 8.30pm (Thursday 4 July 2019), officers from Criminal Groups Squad's Strike Force Raptor were patrolling Orchard Road, Heckenberg, near Liverpool, when they attempted to stop a Ford Territory, believed to be stolen.

The driver of the Ford failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated.

Police pursued the Ford for a short period of time through the area, and as the Ford attempted to turn at the intersection of St Johns Road, it crashed into a Mazda sedan.

The male driver of the Ford ran from the scene and was arrested following a short foot pursuit. The female passenger of the Ford was also arrested, and the pair were taken to Liverpool Police Station.

The female driver of the Mazda was assessed at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and was not transferred to hospital.

An 18-year-old man was charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly (Skye's Law), drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse and not give particulars to other driver.

He was refused bail to appear before Liverpool Local Court today (Friday 5 July 2019).

A 36-year-old woman was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for be carried in conveyance without consent and possess prohibited drug.
