Disqualified rider charged in Warrawong

An alleged disqualified rider on a motorcycle unregistered since 2009 has been charged in the Illawarra today, NSW Police say.

About 8.15am (Tuesday 5 December 2017), police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command observed a Harley Davidson motorcycle travelling along King Street, Warrawong.

Officers stopped and spoke with the rider after checks established the motorcycle was allegedly last registered in 2009.

Further checks also established that the rider, a 50-year-old man, was allegedly disqualified from driving until 2021.

The man was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with drive unregistered vehicle, use uninsured vehicle and drive while disqualified.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Port Kembla Local Court on Thursday 18 January 2018.

The number plate of the motorcycle was removed and returned to Roads and Maritime Services.
