Mornington Peninsula Shire invites applications from contractors to be considered for placement on the Shire's Fire Management Contractors List for 2019/2020.

The Shire's Fire Prevention Officers inspect properties in the lead-up to summer and during the Declared Fire Danger Period to see if there are fire hazards that need to be addressed on private land.

Where a fire hazard is identified, the landowner will be sent a Fire Prevention Notice issued under the Country Fire Authority Act 1958 to remove the fire hazard by a specified date.

Property owners often require a contractor to assist them to carry out this work on their land. By applying for this Expression of Interest, you will be placed on the Fire Management Contractors List which will be sent with each Fire Prevention Notice.

Contractors may be requested to undertake fire management works on private property including slashing grass and undertaking weed and vegetation removal.

If a Fire Prevention Notice has been issued, the work must be completed strictly in accordance with the requirements and compliance date stated on the Fire Prevention Notice.

The EOI opens Monday 16 September 2019 and closes Friday 11 October 2019.

Application forms will be made available to download or complete online via the Shire's website from 16 September 2019: mornpen.vic.gov.au/fireprevention
