Doctor charged with sexual assault of a patient near Wollongong

A doctor will face court charged with various sexual offences allegedly committed at a medical practice near Wollongong.

About 8.30am today (Thursday 24 October 2019), detectives attached to Wollongong Police District executed a search warrant at a medical practice near Wollongong.

A 58-year-old male doctor was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station.

Police from Wollongong Police District will allege the male doctor, based out of a medical practice near Wollongong, took advantage of a 56-year-old male patient over a two-year period.

It is alleged the doctor, over numerous visits, sexually touched and committed sexual acts on the patient.

The doctor was charged with two counts of sexual touching and two counts of aggravated sexual assault.

He was refused bail and is due to appear before Wollongong Local Court today (Thursday 24 October 2019).

Police remind members of the public they can report incidents of sexual assault regardless of when they occurred.
