Domestic assault charges, NSW

A man has been charged with numerous offences after an alleged domestic incident on the Far North Coast last night, NSW Police say.

Police were told that about 6.15pm today, a man allegedly forced entry to a unit in Tweed Heads South and assaulted the 19-year-old female occupant by punching and kicking her. A computer was also damaged.

Officers from Tweed Heads arrested a 23-year-old man outside the property and searched a car parked nearby, seizing cannabis, cash, methylamphetamine and prescription drugs.

The man was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, common assault, a number of drug offences and deal with the proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court tomorrow.

Police will allege the man and woman are known to each other but the man did not reside at the address.
