Domestic Violence Extradition And Charges At Townsville

Last month, officers from Townsville Domestic, Family Violence and Vulnerable Persons Unit (DFV&VPU) travelled to New South Wales to extradite a man in relation to domestic violence offences.

Detectives arrested the man in Parramatta under a warrant and he was extradited to Townsville.

The 29-year-old man was charged with nine counts of contravention of domestic violence order, two counts of unlawful stalking and one count each of distributing intimate images, contravene order about device information from digital device and contravene requirement.

He appeared in Townsville Magistrates Court on May 29 and was remanded in custody and to re-appear on July 4.

DFV&VPU Officer in Charge Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Andy Alce said police take the contravention of domestic violence orders very seriously.

"Holding perpetrators accountable for their actions is key to preventing domestic violence.

"Police play a critical role in responding to domestic violence, holding offenders to account, and protecting victim-survivors, but we cannot do this alone.

"Prevention starts with all of us - families, friends, neighbours, colleagues, and community leaders working together to say 'no more' to domestic and family violence.
