Don't forget your reusable bag

Residents of the Borough of Queenscliffe have long been environmentally-minded, particularly when it comes to reusable bags. Point Lonsdale IGA was well ahead of the curve when it stopped offering lightweight single-use plastic bags way back in 2011, and the local community quickly developed sustainable habits.

Fast forward to now, and lightweight single-use plastic bags are officially a thing of the past. From 1 November 2019, all lightweight shopping bags with a thickness below 36 microns - including degradable, biodegradable and compostable bags - will be banned throughout retailers in Victoria. This applies to supermarkets, corner stores, community markets, small businesses, and any other retailer you can think of.
