Donation recognises efforts of firefighters

$500 Coles gift cards will be distributed to each CFA brigade so they can run a thank-you event with their members or stock up supplies of food and essentials for their stations for the fire season.

CFA Chief Officer and CEO Steve Warrington said, "Our firefighters have already had a busy start to the fire season with many thousand members deploying to New South Wales and Queensland to assist with their fire emergencies, as well as responding to significant fires at home in Victoria.

"We are thankful for this excellent recognition of their hard work in what will continue to be a demanding fire season."

Coles Group Chief Executive Steven Cain said, "We want to acknowledge the amazing courage and dedication of volunteer firefighters who continually put their hand up to protect their communities at all times of the year."

He went on to say that providing gift cards was a tangible way Coles could recognise and thank firefighters and volunteers working tirelessly throughout the year to save homes, businesses and communities.
