On 2 October, the OSCE Mission to Moldova's Donors' Forum brought together more than 40 civil society organizations (CSOs) from both banks of the Dniester/Nistru River alongside more than 20 donors and development partners to foster cooperation, share experiences, and align priorities for sustainable development and peacebuilding.
In his welcome remarks, Head of Mission Christopher W. Smith emphasized that "This Forum highlights the role of civil society in advancing the OSCE's principles: that security is not merely a matter between states; security is inseparable from the rights of individuals. States with robust civil societies are not just more democratic; they are also more resilient, prosperous, and secure." He commended both civil society organizations and donors and development partners for their dedication and commitment to effective cooperation.
As in previous years, the Forum served as a unique platform for networking, sharing best practices, and highlighting the needs and priorities of communities on both banks. Donors and development partners outlined their 2027 focus areas and funding opportunities, fostering a more coordinated approach to support.
This year, the Forum's CSO participants also highlighted the continued need for support in the social and economic spheres, particularly in the areas of humanitarian assistance, employment, entrepreneurship, support for the elderly, and psychological support. The donor community underscored the importance of joining forces around shared priorities to pursue funding opportunities and access resources.
Since 2013, the OSCE Mission to Moldova's Donors' Forum has provided a key platform for dialogue, cooperation, and partnership, reinforcing civil society's role as a driving force for peace and development across both banks of the Dniester/Nistru.
