Latrobe Highway Patrol officers have impounded a car for travelling more than double the speed limit in Morwell this evening.
Officers were performing booze bus duties on Princes Drive when a nearby police unit observed the Holden Commodore Station Wagon about 6pm.
It's alleged the Holden was travelling towards the booze bus at 172km/h in an 80km/h zone.
The wagon was intercepted, and police spoke to the 19-year-old male driver from Morwell.
His pride and joy was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1291 and his licence was immediately suspended for 12 months.
It is expected he will be charged on summons with traffic offences to appear before court at a later date.
