Leeton Shire Council

Leeton Shire Council, at its May 2021 Extraordinary Council meeting, endorsed its Draft 2021/22 Operational Plan, Budget and Revenue Policy (including Fees and Charges) which will be placed on public exhibition until Thursday 10 June 2021.

Community members are invited to provide feedback on the draft documents during the exhibition period. All submissions received will be considered by Council before the final documents are adopted at the June Council meeting.

Council's Operational Plan 2021/22 and Budget sets out Council's focus for the period 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022.

The Operational Plan is presented in combination with the Delivery Program 2017-2022. The Delivery Program component of the document outlines what Council intends to achieve on behalf of the community, while the Operational Plan component lists the actions Council will undertake in order to do so.

"The capital works program we will be undertaking during the coming year is of an unprecedented scale for Council and includes works on important community projects," said Council's General Manager Jackie Kruger.

"Some of these community projects include the Roxy Theatre Redevelopment, Chelmsford Place Town Square, Leeton Golf Course Clubhouse, Wamoon Sewer Scheme, Gogeldrie Weir Recreation Reserve, Art Deco Way Touring Route and the expansion of our fully accessible public conveniences network.

"Other capital works and infrastructure projects - such as Council's comprehensive sealed road network reseal, rehabilitation and heavy patching program - will continue to be progressed during the year as Council continues to deliver on its ongoing commitments," added Mrs Kruger.

A number of projects to stimulate the Shire's economy are also being planned for 2021/22. This includes expansion of the Leeton Early Learning Centre to increase childcare capacity and progressing of WRConnect freight intermodal to improve supply chain efficiency and effectiveness for local producers and manufacturers while improving road safety.

There are also plans to expand Vance Industrial Estate and promote the development of more housing in the Shire to enable further growth of the Shire.

The rates cap for this coming year is 2%. Also only minor adjustments have been made to Council's 2021/22 fees and charges with an average increase of 3%.
