Hawkesbury City Council is seeking community feedback on the Draft Events Strategy 2026–2030, which outlines a sustainable framework for planning, supporting and delivering events over the next four years.
Council's current Events Strategy, adopted in 2017, was reviewed as part of the 2025/2026 Budget process. This review found that the existing model for delivering the major events calendar and the Event Sponsorship Program was no longer financially sustainable.
As a result, Council considered alternative approaches to ensure a viable and sustainable events program for the future. These were presented at the Council meeting on 8 April 2025 where Councillors resolved to apply the following changes:
- Establish a biennial calendar featuring two major events: Savour the Flavour and Light Up Windsor.
- Reshape the Event Sponsorship Policy and Program to focus on Community Events and Special Community Events.
These changes form the basis of the Draft Events Strategy 2026–2030 and have been incorporated into the Draft 2026/2027 Events Budget.
Extensive engagement to further inform the proposed events strategy has been undertaken over almost two years, including the 2023 Community Satisfaction Survey, Event Engagement Boards, focus groups, Councillor workshops and feedback received through Council meetings.
The Draft Events Strategy 2026–2030 is on public exhibition from 16 March to 13 April 2026. To Have Your Say visit www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au/event-strategy
Council invites residents, event organisers and stakeholders to review the draft strategy and provide feedback to help guide the future of events in the Hawkesbury.
