Draft Operational Plan 2023: Bayside

Council's Draft Operation Plan 2023/24 was endorsed for exhibition at an Extraordinary Council Meeting held on Wednesday 10 May.

Each year Council is required to review its services and projects (the Delivery Program), develop an annual Operational Plan and review its long-term financial plan.

"It is important to review our programs and budget to ensure they are relevant and up-to-date, and that Council remains on a sound financial footing," Mayor Dr Christina Curry said.

"Council has endorsed the draft documents for exhibition and the community can now provide their feedback for Council to consider."

Council has updated its 10 Bold Moves included in the Draft Operational Plan:

  • The Botany Aquatic Centre will be delivered in one stage instead of being phased over two stages
  • The Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre has been included as we move to a Council managed model.

Council has also prioritised a focus on customer experience to support changing community expectations.

Council's Long-Term Financial Plan, revised to take into account recent changes in the economic environment, was also endorsed.

Council resolved to provide an updated report within 3 months outlining proposals to improve financial sustainability without increasing rates or decreasing services to Bayside residents.

This report will look at:

  • The balance of rates applied to different rating categories
  • Extending Bayside commercial waste collection services
  • A review of unused assets and those no longer fit for purpose
  • A review of Council projects that do not have funding available
