Liquor Store Threat Lands Man In Court

A man has been arrested following an incident outside a northern suburbs liquor store.

About 7.30pm on Sunday 9 November, police were called to a business on Main North Road, Smithfield, after reports a man had threatened staff with a metal pole before leaving the area in a vehicle.

Fortunately, the employees were not physically injured during the incident.

At 7.50pm, Northern District patrols attended the man's home in Munno Para West. Officers located the 36-year-old man seated in the driver's seat of a Holden sedan, where he allegedly refused to provide his name and failed to comply with a breath test.

The man was arrested and charged with aggravated affray, refusing a breath test, failing to state his name and resisting arrest.

Police seized the metal pole allegedly used in the incident.

He was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 11 December.

His Holden sedan was impounded for 28 days, he was issued with an immediate 12-month loss of licence and was served with a barring order preventing him from entering the liquor store.
