A woman has been arrested for drink driving after recording a blood alcohol reading almost five times the limit following a crash at Hackney this afternoon, according to SA Police.
Police received reports of a black Holden Captiva crashing into a car and a brick fence at the corner of Botanic and Osborne Streets just before 4.30pm on Friday 19 January.
The woman who was driving the Holden left the scene before police arrived and was followed by witnesses through back streets before running off out of sight.
A number of patrols searched the area and the alleged driver was located a short time later on Rundle Street, Kent Town.
The woman was breath tested and allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.242, nearly five times the legal limit.
A 41-year-old woman from Norwood was charged with drink driving, driving in a manner dangerous, failing to exchange particulars after an accident and failing to truly answer. She was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence and will be bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.
