Drink Driver Nearly Six Times Limit At Blair Athol

A drink driver blew nearly six times the legal limit after a crash at Blair Athol last night.

Police and paramedics responded to reports a car had crashed into a tree in Manuel Avenue, Blair Athol at 9pm on Saturday 6 December.

Witnesses told police that the driver had reversed and was driving off, but the responding patrol managed to intercept the Toyota sedan a short distance down the street.

The driver, a 39-year-old Kilburn man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.284 - nearly six times the legal limit.

He was reported for drink driving, driving under the influence, driving while disqualified and driving without due care. He was issued with an additional 12 month loss of licence and will be summonsed to appear in court.

His vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 28 days.
