Two men have been arrested for allegedly doing burnouts and crashing a car into a front yard in Henley Beach overnight.

Police Security officers alerted patrols after spotting a car doing burnouts in the Henley Beach area about 2.20am on Saturday 11 February. The vehicle lost control and crashed into a front garden and became stuck on a water meter.

Both occupants of the car ran from the scene and, after a short foot pursuit, police, with the assistance of Police Dog Ben, arrested the pair.

The driver, a 24-year-old man from Henley Beach, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.210. He was charged with drive without due care, leave the scene of an accident, fail to exchange particulars, drink driving, hinder police and property damage.

The driver's vehicle was impounded for 28 days and his licence was disqualified for 12 months.

The passenger, a 23-year-old man from Henley Beach South, was charged with refusing to provide his details and refusing to identify the driver.

They were both bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 28 March.

Police urge motorists to act responsibly on the roads and if you drink drive you will be caught.
