Driver and pedestrian critical, inquiries into crash continue at Wellington

Two women are in critical conditions following a crash between a car and pedestrian in Wellington yesterday.

About 3pm (Thursday 20 June 2019), emergency services were called to Lee Street, after reports a pedestrian was hit by a car.

Officers from Orana Mid Western Police District attended and located a Ford Falcon containing a 63-year-old woman, and two 14-year-old girls.

A 62-year-old woman was located injured in the roadway.

The 63-year-old woman was taken to Wellington District Hospital, before being flown to St George Hospital where she remains in a critical condition being treated for head injuries.

The younger woman was taken Dubbo Base Hospital where she remains in a critical condition being treated for leg and internal injuries.

Neither teenager was injured.

It's believed the 63-year-old female driver suffered a medical episode as the Ford was approaching Lee Street at the roundabout from Nanima Crescent, before it hit parked cars on the opposite side of the road, one of which the 62-year-old woman was getting into.

Inquiries into the crash by Orana Mid Western police continue.
