Driver arrested after city hit-run crash, SA

A pedestrian is in a critical condition after being struck by a car in the city overnight, according to SA Police.

The collision occurred just before 12.30am on Saturday 4 March on Pulteney Street, between North Terrace and Rundle Street.

The 33-year-old pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the car allegedly failed to stop at the scene.

Patrols searched the area and located the suspect vehicle, a black Ford Territory, in nearby Hindmarsh Square, however the driver had left the area. The vehicle has been seized for forensic examination.

Following investigations, police attended a Parkside address and located the alleged driver. The 29-year-old Parkside man was arrested and charged with driving without due care and leaving the scene of an accident where someone was injured.

Pulteney Street remains closed between North Terrace and Rundle Street while Major Crash investigators examine the scene. Police hope to have the road reopened to traffic by 8am.
