Driver caught overloading in Tarneit

Westgate Highway Patrol Officers intercepted a Mitsubishi Lancer in Tarneit on Friday after the driver and front passengers were allegedly not wearing seatbelts.

As officers approached the car on Sayers Road about 5.40pm, it is alleged that there were four children sitting across the back seat, none of whom were wearing seatbelts.

A fifth child was allegedly sitting in the front passenger foot well.

The driver, a 40-year-old Brookfield woman is expected to be charged on summons for unlicensed driving, failing to wear a seatbelt and offences relating to unrestrained children and the overloading of passengers.

The vehicle was also impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1006.10.

The front passenger a 34-year-old Brookfield man was issued an infringement notice for failing to wear a seatbelt.
