Westgate Highway Patrol Officers intercepted a speeding vehicle in Laverton North on Sunday night.
The Subaru WRX was allegedly detected travelling at a speed of 160km/h on Dohertys Road which has a posted speed limit of 60KM/H about 10.15pm.
The driver, a 56-year-old Newport man is expected to be charged on summons for speed related offences.
The vehicle was also impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1006.
