Driver Charged After Pedestrian Hit by Truck in Lilyfield

A truck driver has been charged with dangerous driving after a woman was allegedly struck by a truck in Sydney's inner west.

About 10.50am yesterday (Monday 18 September 2023), emergency services were called to City West Link Road, Lilyfield, following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a truck.

On arrival, officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command found the pedestrian, a 66-year-old woman, suffering serious injuries.

She was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.

The male truck driver was not injured and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was later examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

The truck was also seized for forensic examination.

The man was later taken to Newtown Police Station, where he was charged with dangerous driving occasion grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving occasion grievous bodily harm, and not stop at stop line at red light (not toll booth).

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday 26 September 2023.

His licence was also suspended.
