Driver Charged in Yarramundi Fatal Hit-and-Run

A man will face court after a man died from a crash in Sydney's north west in August this year.

About 11.30pm on Monday 11 August 2025, emergency services were called to Springwood Road, Yarramundi, following reports of a body was found on the roadside.

Initial inquiries indicate the 51-year-old man died after being hit by a vehicle that allegedly failed to stop.

Officers attached to Hawkesbury Police Area Command established a crime scene and officers attached to Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation under Strike Force Yetmore.

About 7.30pm on Tuesday 12 August 2025, officers attached to Blue Mountains Police Area Command located a damaged black 2005-model Ford Fiesta in Glenbrook.

A crime scene was established and the vehicle was seized for forensic examination.

About 12.40pm on Thursday 14 August 2025, strike force detectives arrested a 39-year-old man on Mort Street, Lithgow however, he was released pending further inquiries.

Following inquiries, about 4.30pm yesterday (Monday 10 November 2025), the same man was arrested on Cranebrook Road, Cranebrook.

He was taken to Windsor Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death), and fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing death.

He was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today (Tuesday 11 November 2025).
