Driver charged over Chain of Ponds crash, SA

A driver has been charged over a crash at Chain of Ponds yesterday that killed a motorcyclist, according to SA Police.

Just after 2.30pm on Thursday 20 July, police and emergency services were called to North East Road, Chain of Ponds, about 7 km west of Gumeracha, after a car collided with a Kawasaki motorcycle.

Sadly, the motorcyclist, a 61-year-old Gumeracha man, died at the scene. The driver of the Hyundai sedan was not injured in the crash.

Major Crash investigators attended and examined the scene.

Last night, the driver, a 26-year-old Tusmore man, was arrested and charged with cause death by dangerous driving and driving without due care and attention. He was bailed to appear in the Mount Barker Magistrates Court on 30 August.

The State's road toll currently stands at 50 compared to 47 at the same time last year.
