Driver detected more than 45km/h over limit-Fairfield

A man has been caught allegedly exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h in Sydney's south-west.

About 3pm yesterday (Thursday 20 August 2020), officers attached to Fairfield Highway Patrol were conducting speed enforcement duties on Macquarie Street, Fairfield, when they detected a silver Lexus sedan travelling at 110km/h in a marked 50km/h zone.

Police stopped and spoke to the 19-year-old driver, who produced a red P2 provisional licence.

Officers immediately suspended the man's driver's licence for six months for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h.

The teen was issued with a traffic infringement notice for $2520 and his registration plates were confiscated for a period on three months.
