Driver hospitalised after rural property owner discovers crash near Batemans Bay

A driver has been airlifted to hospital after a property owner discovered the injured woman in a car crashed down an embankment near Batemans Bay earlier today.

About 12.30pm (Sunday 31 January 2021), a Toyota Prius was travelling east on the Kings Highway at Currowan, about 25km north west of Batemans Bay, when it left the road and landed 12m down an embankment.

A property owner discovered the crash and alerted emergency services.

The driver and sole occupant, a 68-year-old woman, was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital with serious injuries.

Officers from South Coast Police District attended and established a crime scene.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.
