A driver has died and second has been airlifted to hospital after a two-vehicle crash north of Mudgee overnight.
About 9.30pm yesterday (Friday 17 July 2026), emergency services were called to Goolma Road, near Guntawang Road, Guntawang, about 29km north of Mudgee, following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District attended and found that two utes had crashed in a head on collision trapping both drivers.
One driver died at the scene. They are yet to be formally identified.
The other driver – a 34-year-old man – was able to free himself from his vehicle before being treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for head injuries and airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
Police established a crime scene and Crash Investigation Unit officers have commenced inquiries into the cause of the crash.
