Driver Seriously Injured In Single Vehicle Crash Near Taree

A driver has been seriously injured in a single vehicle crash in the state's north.

About 2.20pm today (Friday 17 October 2025), emergency services responded to reports that a car had crashed into a tree and caught fire in the south bound lanes of the Pacific Highway, Rainbow Flat, approximately 20km south of Taree.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the fire.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the male driver – believed to be aged in his 40's – at the scene before he was taken to Manning Base Hospital in a critical condition.

Officers from Manning Great Lakes Police District have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.

South bound lanes are expected to remain closed for a considerable amount of time and motorists are urged to avoid the area.
