Driver tries to run from police at Walkerville, SA

A driver was arrested after attempting to avoid police at Walkerville overnight, according to SA Police.

A police patrol was at a petrol station when they saw a car speeding past. They pulled the vehicle over near the corner of Wilsden Street and St Andrews Street, Walkerville, however, as the patrol approached the stationary car, it suddenly reversed over the median strip, through a hedge and knocking over road signs. The driver then ran from the vehicle, but was caught in a nearby street after a foot chase.

There were no injuries during this incident.

The alleged driver, a 23-year-old Angle Park man, was arrested and charged with drive under the influence, drive unlicensed and drive in a manner dangerous. He has been refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today. His vehicle has been impounded for 28 days.
