Two drivers have lost their licence after they were allegedly street racing in Warradale last night.
Just after 8pm, Thursday 2 July, a traffic patrol saw a white Mazda and a red Nissan accelerate at high speeds on Diagonal Road.
It will be alleged the vehicles reached speeds of up to 100km/h while racing each other.
Patrols safely stopped both vehicles on Oaklands Road and spoke with the drivers.
The driver of the Mazda, a 25-year-old man from Aberfoyle Park and the driver of the Nissan, a 27-year-old man from Flagstaff Hill, were reported for aggravated street racing and driving in a manner dangerous. They were issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence and their vehicles were impounded for 28 days.
Both men will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
Dangerous driving is the leading cause of lives lost and serious injury collisions on SA roads.
This type of risk taking behaviour is not only unlawful it is unsafe, irresponsible, and outright careless not only for the drivers but for other road users as well.
