Two men have been charged after allegedly using a drone to deliver illicit drugs in the Wollongong area earlier this week.
About 11.45pm on Tuesday (28 April 2026), police were called to a unit complex on Corrimal Street, Wollongong, following reports two men were seen acting suspiciously in the area.
On arrival, officers attached to Wollongong Police District found two men – aged 43 and 24 – allegedly hiding inside the unit complex.
Police spoke to the men who told officers they were searching for a drone that had crashed within the complex.
Following a search, officers located and seized a damaged drone which was carrying a dog waste bag containing 66g of methylamphetamine.
Both men were subsequently arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station.
Following further inquiries, police executed a search warrant at a home on Cliff Road, Wollongong, about 1.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 29 April 2026).
During the search, police found that the front door of the home had been modified with metal and several deadbolts to secure the premises. Police also located and seized a baton, an electronic stun device, 42g of methylamphetamine and $4,350 in cash.
Both men were charged with supply prohibited drug more than indictable & less than commercial quantity, enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse, and possess prohibited drug.
Police will allege in court the men were using the drone to deliver drugs in the area when it crashed.
They were both refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 3 yesterday, where they were further refused bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 12 May 2026.
